Speech Therapy

Offered for children ages 2-10

Sally Pratt uses a flashcard with an image and a word to help a child with speech sounds.

Is your child difficult to understand or struggling to produce certain sounds?

Speech therapy focuses on helping children who have difficulty producing speech sounds correctly. Therapy improves pronunciation, clarity, and overall communication skills by targeting the underlying area of need, including:

Articulation         Dysarthria

Treating speech sound disorders early is important because it helps children develop clear communication skills that are essential for social, academic, and emotional growth.

Language therapy focuses on supporting early language development, helping young children improve their ability to understand and use language. There are several skill areas that therapy can target in toddlers and preschool children, such as:

Receptive Language     Social Communication

Therapy for toddlers enhances language skills through interactive, play and routine-based techniques. Early intervention is key, as it helps toddlers build the foundation for effective communication skills, which are essential for social interaction, learning, and overall development.

What to Expect

Here’s how to get started with speech therapy services for your child

Sally Pratt answers contact forms on her computer, following up with new clients seeking speech therapy services.

1. Initial Contact

Start by calling or filling out the contact form on my website to express interest in speech therapy for your child. Provide details such as your child’s age, your area(s) of concern, whether you are looking for services at home or at school, and whether you are looking to go through insurance or pay privately.

Once we connect, we can determine if we are a good fit for working together based on schedules and the type of support you are seeking.

Sally Pratt works with a toddler on a speech evaluation to assess if the shild needs speech therapy services.

2. Schedule an Evaluation

The next step is to schedule a formal evaluation* to assess your child’s skills and areas of need. The assessment will be tailored to your area(s) of concern and might focus on articulation, expressive language, receptive language, or a combination of these areas.

*If your child has had a recent evaluation from another SLP, it may be possible to skip this step and move straight to scheduling therapy sessions.

Sally Pratt reviews the results of an evaluation with parents, and they schedule a series of therapy sessions to support their child.

3. Results and Next Steps

After the evaluation, you will receive a report summarizing the results and my recommendations for subsequent therapy sessions.

If we decide to move forward with regular sessions, we will schedule those at this time. I will keep you updated on progress and goal achievement throughout your child's therapy sessions.
