FAQs

Feel confident and informed as you begin your child’s communication journey

Whether this is your first time seeking speech therapy services, or you've been through this before, I've compiled a list of common queries to help you feel confident about this process. If you have any additional questions, please reach out

Getting Started

What types of speech and language disorders do you treat?

I work with a wide range of communication challenges, including speech sound delays, expressive and receptive language difficulties, social communication skills, and early language development. Every child is unique, and I tailor therapy to meet their specific needs.

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If you're noticing your child is harder to understand than other children their age, struggles to follow directions, has a limited vocabulary, or seems frustrated when trying to communicate, a speech and language evaluation may be helpful. I’m happy to offer a consultation to discuss your concerns and recommend next steps.

What ages do you work with?

I specialize in working with children from 12 months to early school age. Whether your child is just beginning to speak or refining more complex communication skills, I am here to support their growth at every stage.

What can I expect during the first session?

The first session is an evaluation where I get to know your child through a mix of structured tasks, playful interaction, and interview with the parents/caregiver. I’ll assess different areas of communication and share my findings with you. Together, we’ll create a customized plan that supports your child’s specific goals.

Therapy Process

How long will my child need speech therapy?

Every child’s journey is different. Some may meet their goals in just a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We continuously monitor progress and adjust therapy to ensure your child is always moving forward.

How do you personalize therapy for each child?

I take time to understand each child’s interests, strengths, and challenges. Therapy sessions are individualized and often incorporate play, stories, games, and hands-on activities to keep learning fun and meaningful.

How often are therapy sessions scheduled?

Most children attend therapy once or twice per week for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on their individual needs. We'll work with you to find a schedule that feels supportive and manageable for your family.

Can parents sit in on the sessions?

Absolutely! I love involving parents and caregivers. Depending on your child’s needs, you may observe sessions, join in activities, or receive detailed updates at the end. Your participation helps carry over new skills into everyday life.

Do you provide home practice activities?

Yes! I believe in supporting progress outside of the therapy room. I share easy-to-use strategies and simple activities that fit naturally into your family’s routine, helping your child build skills more quickly and confidently.

Billing & Policies

Do you accept insurance?

I currently accept BCBS, Harvard Pilgrim, and Cigna insurance plans. If I am out-of-network with your insurance, I can provide you with detailed invoices (superbills) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an evaluation or a consultation by contacting me through my website, calling me directly, or emailing. Please provide as much detail as possible about the support you are looking for so I can determine if we will be a good fit!

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

I understand that life happens! I kindly ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations. I’ll work with you to reschedule whenever possible so your child stays on track.
